In love

6 weeks (or 7? I lost count) in Switzerland and I could not be more in love.
I’m in love with my host city, my new friends, school, mountains, chocolate, cheese, everything.
I can’t imagine what my life was like before I met my friends I have now and my daily eating routine of bread/ coffee for breakfast, schoki gipfeli (which is pretty much the best thing ever) during school break, lunch that doesn’t consist of pb&j, chocolate after school, and then an amazing dinner made by my amazing host family. Even if I do gain 100 pounds this year, I will be the happiest girl in the world.
As far as my German goes: I work on it everyday in school since I don’t quite understand anything my teachers are saying. While it is still nicht so gut, I learn something new everyday, and everyday I fall more in love with how amazing (and crazy) this language is.
The past few weeks have looked as such:

Rotary had excursions for all the exchange students in Zug every Wednesday for the past 4 weeks. Since my last post, we went to Cham and had a bonfire, Höllgrotten (hells cave), and hiked up Wildspitz.

The Rotex (previous exchange students) organization here in Switzerland is amazing. They plan 4 (I think) weekends for us and our first one was a couple weeks ago. We went to Lenk, a village in the kanton of Bern, and had a great time getting to know each other. There, I met some people whom I’ve been talking to since march. It’s crazy to see the real faces of people you’ve stalked countless times on social media.

In school, each class went on a Schulreise (class field trip) and my class decided to go a Seilpark an hourish away. I was beyond nervous for the whole thing as all of the safety instructions were in German and I thought I was going to die. But i didn’t, and I’m here, thank God.

Lastly, my friend Duda from Brazil, invited me to go to Engelberg with her and her host family on Sunday and it was by far the prettiest view I’ve ever seen. I could’ve stayed there forever. I would be lying if I said I didn’t cry when I saw the mountains with the Swiss flag.

I have a really really amazing month coming up and I can’t wait to watch it unfold.

Happy fall!! While y’all in Texas die from heat, I’ll be freezing by how cold it is here (okay, it’s not that cold. Like 60 average) but I’m taking it all in, one layer at a time.

Bis später,

Allison
